This is my first year teaching Ancient History. My students are seventh grade city kids, a tough audience. To introduce Mesopotamia and written history, I bought this gorgeous trilogy of books (Gilgamesh the King, Ishtar's Revenge and The Last Quest of Gilgamesh) and simply read each one aloud, showing pictures as I read. The students sat, spellbound, and applauded when I finished each book. Not just one class, but every one just loved the stories, and the illustrations are breathtaking.
