I have read and reread this book - I have read many from the same time period and still cannot comprehend the mind of the Nazi govenrment - nor the supporters - knowing or not knowing I also cannot comprehend the courage of the persons depicted in the book nor the helpers the horror - the fear- the panic from both the hiding and the hiders the people who had to stand by while family members were taken a way it's beyond me - from all sides of the involved persons it doesn't appear that anyone learns anything from the past but I keep reading and hoping something will change - but don't have many hopes this book may make a very big difference
