Week by week we witnessed how grudges can be held onto in families down through the generations. Many of the world's best stories have a falling out and a reconciliation and restoration which, when portrayed on the big screen, bring a tear to our eyes and a lump in our throats. What this book is portraying is far bigger than that. This is the longest running family feud in history. It began with the struggle of the twins in the Rebekah's womb referred to in Romans chapter 9 verse 11. This struggle has led to the destruction of the twin towers in America on 9:11 2001 and since then to most of the subsequent acts global terrorism. This terrorism is just the outworking of the story of the twins in the Book of Genesis. The whole world is now facing horrendous acts of violence because of Esau's deep seated grudge against his twin brother Jacob. Esau gave up his birthright and was deceived into losing the family blessing. Ever since that time his descendants have resented the fact that his twin brother, Jacob, was bequeathed the land. Today Esau's descendants refer to this land as the 'occupied territories' whilst the descendants of Jacob (whose name was changed to Israel) insist that God promised the land to him and to his descendants by an eternal covenant. The world is now being forced to take sides in a squabble which is destined to lead us to the end of the age when Jerusalem ('The City of Peace') will become the stumbling block on which all nations will fall. This was prophesied by the prophet Zechariah 2,500 years ago and we are seeing the players moving to the centre stage right now. Most of the pieces are in place. Why has the UN passed more resolutions against the descendants of the one twin and supported the other? Why has UNESCO chosen to ignore all the historical and archaeological evidence for the existence of Israel's descendants and supported Esau's claim? The Bible is clear what the outcome will be and yet the nations seem to be unable or unwilling to look at the subject logically. The trigger for the end times could not be pulled until the descendants of the one twin, Israel, returned to the Promised Land after centuries in exile. Next it was important for his people to have jurisdiction again over the City of Jerusalem. According to the Bible, forthcoming events will (or rather 'must') include the removal of the wall between Gaza and Israel and all the nations which are the immediate neighbours of Israel must be living at peace with her. Whether that will be following a war or not is debateable. After that short time of peace, nations from further afield will attack Israel only to be destroyed on the hills between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea. It has all been clearly set out for us in the Bible. The leaders of all nations need to look at the Bible again. This book is an attempt to clarify what has taken place thus far and what will happen next. When the Maker created this planet, He also gave us the Maker's Handbook so that we could see where things are going wrong and make the necessary adjustments - but we threw the Book out and ignore the Maker. We will continue to side-line it at our peril. The fact that the Jews have returned from nations all across the globe and are seeing the desert blossom as a rose is a sign that all the other prophetic words in the Handbook will fall into place. Ezekiel 36 and 37 tell how this would happen as the nations witnessed the Jews returning out of the valley of dry bones (the holocaust) to their Promised land. The next 2 chapters tell of a forthcoming battle.
