I received this anthology from the author in exchange for an honest review.
A Little Night of Magic is a smorgasbord of stories by Angie Fox. Three stories are the Biker Witch/Accidental Demon Slayer Series, two the Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery series and a stand-alone story. For the most part, the stories are all PG rated, very little sex scenes in them, but in all honesty, they don't need them, the character and storylines survive just fine without the sex scenes. I enjoyed all the stories, a few of these reviews were from stories that were previously released. All stories have likeable characters and are quick reads. Most stories can be finished during your lunch hour because they flow so nicely. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
#1 is A Ghostly Gift (Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery): A Ghostly Gift is a short, sweet book. I enjoyed the little pitstop with Verity and Frankie the Ghost. This book is also a good way to see if this series is something you will like. The actual first book is Southern Spirits. A Ghostly Gift can be read in one sitting, and a way to get to know the main likeable characters.
Up next is Ghost of a Chance (Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery): It's the Christmas story for the series. Again, it's a good stand-alone book that you can get your feet wet with the series. Why do I latch onto something that really wasn't a big part of the story and remember that. It was Frankie the Ghost all excited about going to the party, but that's enough of a spoiler.
Story three, Gentlemen Prefer Voodoo... This one has nothing to do with either series. It's a stand-alone story with likeable characters. This one's more of a romance than the other five ... oddly there's no 'bad guy' in this one. I do want the Kongamato... a dragon ... because he's pretty cool, mice withstanding (I'm not explaining that, just read the story for a good laugh). This story is the longest one of the batch.
Next comes the three Biker Witch/Demon Slayer stories. All can be read without reading any of the full length stories. I think after reading them, you're going to want to go back and read the rest.
Number one is I Brake for Biker Witches. For those of you who read this story, no Dimitri, just a mention. This one we almost could've invited Verity and Frankie to, lots of ghosts in this one. Like all the stories they're light reading. There is a forward that it falls between two stories but it's not really necessary to read the one first.
Date with a Demon Slayer is #5I liked the Biker Witch books from the first one and it still continues. The characters are likeable and interesting. This was a short story, just perfect for reading on your lunch hour. Just a nice taste until book 8 comes out. I've come to the conclusion that Lizzie and Dimitri can't go anywhere without something evil finding them. And over the last seven books and a novella, how many times Lizzie dog Pirate steals the story. I love that dog. Although this book comes after the Night of the Living Demon Slayer, you can read it to see if the series interests you, you're missing a lot of the background of the first seven books, but still it's a good 'test' book.
The last one, Some Like it Hexed, I think might be new, didn't have it in my books to read before I got on Angie's street team. Again, no problems and no Dimitri... you can read it before any of the full length Biker Witches/Demon Slayer books. There is some great parts with Pirate... and some of the things with the seniors is pretty funny. I'm sure somewhere along the line the seniors at the home will pop up again.
