The text examines the political, economic, social and legal environment in which Turkish shipping operates. Analysis of this provides a model of the economic environment that dictates the progress or otherwise of the industry. It also looks at developments in Turkish shipping since 1980, trends in the fleet and ownership, contribution to the national economy, privatization and ownership issues, trade statistics and transport data.
