Can we aspire?
It takes more perhaps than a lifetime to achieve the discipline, singlemindedness & holiness necessary to defy the powers that be, in our own world. Bonhoeffer identified clearly where his mission lay, and which led to his martyrdom for his belief. Can we identify those powers that we must resist, and follow through . Discipleship will likewise take a lfetime's study to help us achieve this Bonhoeffer's degree of perfection.

A Must Read
If you haven't read The Cost of Discipleship, you should definitely include it in your reading plan. Bonhoeffer was a Lutheran pastor in Germany during WWII and was executed the the Nazis just days before the Allies entered Berlin. The Nazis led him out of his jail cell naked and hanged him with piano wire.

A Very Priceless Must Read !
This book, already more than 50 years old, is THE CATECHISM for anyone who would be a true Christian. Anybody, from any denomination and creed, must read this book to have the pathway laid out as to what it means to be a Christian. No holds barred, this martyr, Mr. Bonhoeffer, offed by Nazi insanity, cruelty and intolerance, shows the hard life really required of us Christians. If you take Christ seriously, as many of us HAVE to, you have to read this book to understand what you're getting into !

Christ is not cheap
Their are those who just want a ticket to heaven; or those who know scripture. In Cost of Discipleship Bonhoeffer lays out the mechanics of developing into a strong disciple of Christ. No doubt if one has read his life story....this is the training manuel. A must read for those who desire the deep walk with God.
