JK Rowling writes this mystery series under a pseudonym and while mysteries ordinarily run to 300-or-so pages, this could be a doorstop for a heavy bank door. Runs over 800 pages. But she pulls it off. Strike and his partner, Robin, are wonderfully drawn and we care about them as much as the mystery.
