She soon garners a devoted following of six young girls, who will become known as 'the Brodie set', and begins to shape them in her own image. But Miss Brodie is more than just an individual with an intense desire to control and mould her girls. Beneath the facade of this self-possessed woman lie some sinister truths, and a keen interest in fascism . . .

While I liked this book, I have to admit I liked the movie better. I didn't get the same sense of drama from the printed page, as I did watching Maggie Smith bring the part to life. It was, however, a good read.

A really good book
I really liked this book. This is one of those books which once you read you know has a much deeper meaning than what's on the surface level. This book follows the lives of a set of pupils belonging to the infamous Miss Jean Brodie. Supposedly she is a fascist (this book is set in the 1930s). The heroine is fascinating. She is hated, feared, and respected and finding out about her is like being let in on a dirty secret. She is scandolous. I loved seeing what kind of people her pupils grew up to be. Rose is probably the most memorable seeing as how most people would be shocked and intrigued by a young sex symbol. I definitely want to read this book again. It was a fun and short read.
