For what it is, this book is excellent. Fischer does not share his deepest thought on chess here. This is simply a book that beginning chess players can read without even needing to know notation or having to set up a board. It presents good tactical exercises and some basic tactical ideas that any and every beginner can use in order to get to the level where he can play a real game of chess.

Pocket Prince
This small paperback is the prince of chess guides. If you are a beginner, it explains the basics -- but not until it tells you where to skip ahead if you are experienced.
Comprensive, concise -- frame by frame explanantion -- this little book contains a universe of chess knowledge. I think it a wonderful addition to any chess player's knowledge bank.
