Gangfighters. Drug addicts. Teenage runaways and prostitutes. The toughest and most hopeless kids that New York's ghettos had to offer. My husband owned this book many years ago, and lost it during a move. So I decided to go on a quest to find the book that he spoke SO highly of. And I found it while on Alibris! I was over the moon and ordered it the day I found it. It arrived ahead of schedule, which was an awesome surprise for my husband! And the book was brand new! I LOVE Alibris, and I will shop here often and recommend the site to all of my friends and family!

The Uncomfortable Fifties
I think this book is valuable more for what it implies about US society in the fifties than for its methodology to deal with problems. If one compares the nascent criminal landscape of the fifties, seemingly confined within the socio-economic ghettos of the times with what authorities encounter nowadays throughout society, we realize that there is no real difference. It's just a matter of degree. The good old days are merely old and their "good" exists in there being fewer casualties per hundred than there are today.

This is not a new book and not a new message. But it 's fresh and powerful and full of encouragement that any life can be changed when submitted to the Lord Jesus Christ. The fact that the author is still active and successful in this dynamic ministry attests to the validity of the message. Many lives continue to be transformed through the Teen Challenge centers all over teh U.S. To God be the glory.
