If you like James Herriot, you will love this book! I've read several other veterinarian books, but this one is the most like the Herriot books that I have read. He tells the story with self depreciative humor and what a bunch of characters he meets! He spells the words as they would be spoken there in Alabama and I find myself speaking Southern in my head! I am now reading the second in the series " A Friend of the Flock". I highly recommend this book to all who love animals and also to all who love people!
