As a practicing psychotherapist, who engages in bibliotherapy,
I have through the years given this book to clients. It has never failed to have a most positive effect on helping them move from their depression---feelings of helplessness, haplessness and hopelessness---to truly "feeling good."

This Book WIll Change Your Life
This is one of those rare books that will change your life. What it has to say is so powerful, that no matter WHO you are, you will learn something that will make you a happier, more confident person. This might sound silly, but I buy this book in multiples and give it to people I know well on a regular basis. I feel it is my responsibility to help people who seem like they could be happier by having improved coping skills -- by giving them this incredible "tool" to help themselves. Having read almost every "self-help" book ever written, this is the one with practical advice that tells you EXACTLY why you are thinking what you are thinking and EXACTLY -- step by step -- what to DO about changing the way you think, and feel. If you are a person who truly wants to take ownership of your negative thoughts and your actions to make your life better, but you just never learned HOW to do that, there is no better personal investment than the time it takes to read this fantastic book.

Great & thought provoking
The doctor I see for chronic pain suggested this book and am I glad he did! Although I knew stress affects pain, I'd never thought about past incidents in my life affecting my pain now. Buy this book and then find a comfortable chair as you won't be able to put it down. It will make you laugh, cry, think, and work, but it will help you if you let it the message & information into your head and heart.

David Burns "The New Mood Therapy"
This is the Number One book psychologists and psychiatrists recommend for their patients. The focus is on Cognitive Behavior Therapy, a proven help for sufferers of all Depressive Disorders. I would recommend it to anyone, not just people with depression. It focuses on the negative thinking most Depressed people suffer with, and names the top 10 negative thinking processes so you can recognize and change this way of thinking. Highly recommended.
