Ms. Armstrong's credentials as a researcher and writer are extraordinary, and allow her to present the historical drama of the creation of "God" by several of today's major religions, and how that creation drama has turned into today's fundamentalism. One cannot read through this without the sinking feeling that humanity has not progressed one iota in its ability to be compassionate with one another, to be just in its application of religions "rights" towards one another, and to learn from its history of religious mistakes. Her writing is precise, knowledgeable and eminently readable. Her exposition moves at just the right pace to keep you interested but provide ample gist for the mental mill that must work to absorb the details she provides. And, though she began her quest for 'truth' as a nun, she does all this without preaching or becoming shrilly opinionated - just a consistent push towards enlightenment. As a result of reading this, the first of her works for me, I have purchased and am reading every other book she has written. Such is the power of her ability to entrance and snare the reader with her intellect and power of persuasion!
