I know there's a current TV series based on Agatha Raisin, the amateur middle-aged detective for which Beaton wrote a series. So, I was surprised to see how dated the book was, full of stereotypes of sneering at foolish, overweight middle-aged Agatha who is made to look pathetic for her desire to attract a man. It's a grim reminder of how women, especially older women, especially single women, were treated back in the 50s-60s. I didn't finish the book.
