This was one of my favorites that I have read in the past months. The heroin "Sancha of Aragon" is a brave soul. She had no idea what she was getting into when she married the youngest of the Borgia brothers. The things she wanted most were out of reach but she was fulfilled in other ways. Lucrezia Borgia was involved in a forbidden relationship this was witnessed by Sancha and that changed everything for her. She could never utter a word this secret to another living soul not even her own brother whom she trusted with her life. She knew by reputation of this family she could disappear in the night. Sancha never gave up even after being raped and betrayed. In the end she possessed a strenghth not even her husband (a true coward) could understand. Although childless after years of marriage she took in the orphaned Borgia children and loved them as though they were her own.
