Except for the spine being a bit cockeyed and the corners mildly bumped, the book is in excellent shape, clean and intact. A pop-up book that, when fully deployed, forms a quaint English village. Comes with a perforated sheet of little people and animals to populate the scene. All figures are still on the sheet (none have been detached). When closed, the book measures approx. 13.75" long x 9.75" tall. When deployed, the village measures approx. 23" wide x 25" long x 10" tall. James Alfred Wight (1916-1995), writing under the pen name James Herriot, was an English veteriarian and author whose books inspired the hit TV series ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL.

This is one of the best pop-up books out there. A classic of drawing and design, the book is also engineered with sophistication to achieve stunningly realistic effect.s.
