I bought this book for each of my adult children to use when choosing books for their kids. I get frustrated reading a picture book that has a stupid story line, rotten attitudes, or pointless narrative. This book helps weed through all the junk to those books that stand the test of time. In a "kid lit" class, my prof said, "If you can't stand to read the book five times to your child, it's not worth reading." This book will help you find those that you can read happily for years to children and grandchildren.

Excellent, worth owning!
The author presents the case for reading aloud as a family, bringing excellent points and personal stories that will inspire you to build this type of family culture. As a Christian, she also challenges you to read the Bible aloud regularly. The last 2/3 of the book offer a wonderful bibliography of best read-aloud books organized by subject and age.
