It has been a long time since I have read anything about Mary Todd Lincoln. This historical novel was excellent. It gave a good picture of Mrs. Lincoln's difficulties from childhood through her mature years and perhaps why she is often misinterpreted. It gave me a new appreciation for her as a woman and as a president's wife.

A different look at Mary Lincoln's Life
Some say she was crazy; I have to feel sympathy for her! Who wouldn't be crazy after the tragic life she lived! After witnessing her mother's death, difficult times with a step-mother, loosing three sons, having few friends (the northern people feel she's spying for the south since she was born in Kentucky and the southern people seeing her as a traitor), sitting beside the man she loves as he is assassinated, why wouldn't she be a slight bit crazy! This book goes into the life of Mary Lincoln better than any I have read so far! This book is written so well that you can "experiencel" the events that are occurring. One of the best Mary Lincoln books written that I have read so far!!
