Die Bewohner dieser umz???unten Nachbarschaften grenzen sich durch ihre Art des Wohnens, durch ihr Leben in einer eigenen privaten Stadt, durch den Ausschluss anderer Personen der Stadt, aus der st???dtischen Umgebung aus, und ziehen sich aus der ???ffentlichkeit ins Private zur???ck. Gleichzeitig entsteht innerhalb der abgeschotteten privaten Lebensr???ume Orte der ???ffentlichkeit, die die Grenze zwischen privat und ???ffentlich verschwimmen l???sst. Da sich durch diese Wohnform Teile der Stadt in das Private einhausen, soll in der vorliegenden Arbeit untersucht werden, in welchem Verh???ltnis der private und der ???ffentliche Raum zueinander stehen und ob sich dieses Verh???ltnis im Hinblick auf die geschlossenen Wohnkomplexe ver???ndert. Es soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, ob und inwiefern diese Entwicklung dem Konzept der Urbanit???t mit ihren beiden Polen ???ffentlichkeit und Privatheit gegenl???ufig ist und ob man daher von einer "Enturbanisierung" sprechen kann, was am Beispiel der gated communities in Istanbul erfolgt. Hier soll das Augenmerk vor allem auf die Wohnkomplexe f???r die Mittel und Oberschicht gelegt werden, da sich anhand dieser besonders deutlich die zu untersuchenden Pole ???ffentlichkeit und Privatheit ablesen und grenzen lassen.
