Ranging from 'Normandy, Brittany, the Loire Valley and from as far away as the English West Country and the South of France', these influences are lovingly collected and accompanied by helpful illustrative vignettes and plates. Signed by the author to the title page. Featuring an author's ink dedication to the front free-endpaper: 'To Robin and Patricia-and for Lihou Island, where much of this book was put together-November, 1986'. Collated, complete with 109 'Text Illustrations', 83 black and white plates, and 9 colour plates. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding with gilt title to spine.
