Of course, Green was arguably the most consistent soul vocalist of the '70s -- you could pick any of his songs at random and come up with a very entertaining collection. And that's essentially what has happened here. There is no rhyme or reason to why certain singles were chosen over others, or why these particular album tracks are featured, but it's inarguable that hearing "Pretty Woman," "Funny How Time Slips Away," "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart," "Take Me to the River," "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," and "I Can't Get Next to You" on one disc is very pleasurable indeed.
