On the major-label debut by Portsmouth, New Hampshire's Thanks To Gravity, the band follows the same AAA blueprint of their first two independently released albums. Produced by veteran Rupert Hine (Rush, Peter Gabriel), Start contains several tracks that could very well become hits on VH1 due to their laidback musical style and friendly, sing-along choruses (for example, the title track). There is a pleasant, spacious quality to many of the tracks as well ("Something Deeper"), while "Phenomenon of Flight" sounds like a cross between the Dave Matthews Band and the Wallflowers (two AAA/VH1 favorites). And like those two bands, Thanks to Gravity want to first build up a solid, steady following through relentless touring and word of mouth, rather than hit it big on their first try and become a one-hit wonder.
