This is an intriguing set of compositions and arrangements by pianist Ryan Cohan. The voicings of the sextet (not all of the personnel are on every cut) are reminiscent of Herbie Hancock on his Speak Like a Child album of the 1960s. Cohan makes his group sound much larger than six pieces, particularly on numbers that have Jim Gailloreto on flute or soprano.
