The Way We Live Now
Excellent story and casting. Plot involves capitalism and greed in England, love and hate, and how important money was to social standing, and the lengths some people will go to get power. Melmont is truly Faustian! Many 'aristocrats' who lived off of nothing except bad credit and their 'ancient' name owed money to people like Melmot to allow them to keep the lifestyles to which they were accustomed, such as gambling, servants, drinking, etc., and they could not afford to offend him. This story shows how people can be taken in by promises of money and power. It is a sweeping story, involving a lot of great actors and a well put together plot. Highly recommend!
