Discover the crucial role the Canadian military played in one of the most decisive battles of World War II as director Tim Wolochatiuk details the battle at Juno beach during the Allied invasion of Normandy. The date: June, 6th, 1944. The mission: Operation Overlord. Never before in history had a seaborne invasion of this magnitude been attempted. As 160,000 Allied soldiers made their way across the English Channel on a mission to penetrate "Fortress Europe," Canadian forces targeted Juno Beach. This is more documentary, than movie, complete with interviews with WWII vets. It's made on the cheap and it shows, but if you are looking for real history and anything on the Canadian WWII experience made in the last 15-20 years, this is as good as it gets.
One serious point for the history nerds like me; this DVD is going to be bout your only source for first hand accounts of Canadians following "No Prisoners" Directives during the Normandy Campaign. So just for that it has great historical value.
