And I can't deny it, I was very disappointed. I can understand why some may really enjoy it, I guess it's all about the right mood. This is a very unique and bizarre film. Three very different brothers reunited after their father's death on a trainride in India. They face a clash of culture in a strange way, from sneaking a snake into the train, randomly deciding to get intimate with the traditional looking train hostess, and experiencing the harshness of poverty through death.
I guess the film does do a good job in showing the behind-the-scenes things happening in the exotic and modernizing land known as India, but the way the story is told is very awkward almost.
Many awkward silences, spontaneous actions, etc that just make you go "huh?" Perhaps, it's meant to be more thought provoking and spiritual. The blend of comedy is what throws it off though.
I might watch it again, but I gave it 3 stars to balance out the mixed reviews. Different people will like this film differently, moreso than other films.

Very Disappointing.
I love Wes Anderson's early stuff, but with this film and The Life Aquatic, I feel like he's gotten off-track (and no, that's not a pun about the train in this film.) The Darjeeling Limited is tangentially about three brothers trying to get to actually know each other after a series of tragedies, but it's really....boring. And disjointed and implausible and a lot of other negative things. It's not funny, and you would be much better served to see Rushmore or The Royal Tenenbaums instead, even if you've seen them before. Get back on track, Wes!

I was expecting a funny movie with jokes and awkward situations but I found a movie with symbolism and meaning. Deffinetly get this movie its amazing and it has a lot of smart humor I really really enjoyed it and I hope you do to.
