Oh God! is "Far Out"!
One of the forgotten comedy classics of cinema, "Oh God!" embodies the humor, wit and charm of the hip 1970s. George Burns plays the role of your warm and loving uncle figure as God, which he pulls off very well. The (then) pop music celebrity John Denver plays your average everyman, Jerry Landers, who works as a manager for the local supermarket and has a family at home. On one seemingly ordinary day, Jerry finds a scrap of paper beneath his pillow that is signed by "God", summoning him to an interview at an office building downtown. Jerry dismisses it as a joke, but things become hilariously crazy as Jerry discovers God really does exist, and he's handpicked him to become the world's savior - even though Landers has absolutely no belief in God! The film carries a very wholesome message about faith, and the comedic elements illustrate this message quite nicely. George Burns is perfect, and Denver is flawless. "Oh God!" is a wonderful movie that you will want to watch time and time again!
