Fabulous acting
Anthony Hopkins is great in this movie. He really plays the part to perfection, as did Emma Thompson, Christopher Reeves and James Fox. Mostly it's about the sad realization that one's life can slip away, and if you haven't acted on your feelings, been too engrossed in your work and/or your own particular neurosis, well, that can be a very sad and lonely thing to acknowledge in the end. But the movie weaves that aspect of the story into another story about Nazi Germany's attempt to involve England just prior to the beginning of the war. Actually it's all about the danger of being "clueless" to your own feelings and what is going on around you. Very well done.
