And he's right: an alien spacecraft on a scientific mission mistakenly left behind an aging botanist who isn't sure how to get home. this was the first movie that made me cry. saw it in the theater when it came out and was so excited. was a very sad movie - when the go to operate on little ET - it stressed me out as a youngster. but it's also triumphant - he leaves a rainbow in the sky as he goes back to his own world. i'll never forget later watching the spanish language version in high school spanish class, "ET llama a casa".
