Bei hellem Wetter tauchen auch wohl dr�ben auf der Insel, welche das jenseitige Ufer des Sundes bildet, rotbraune D�cher und die Spitze eines Turmes auf, und wenn die Abendd�mmerung das Bild verl�scht hat, entz�nden dort zwei Leuchtt�rme ihre Feuer und werfen �ber die dunkle See einen Schimmer nach dem diesseitigen Strand her�ber. Gleichwohl, wer als Fremder durch die auf- und absteigenden Stra�en der Stadt wandert, wo hie und da roh gepflasterte Stufen �ber die Vorstra�e zu den kleinen H�usern f�hren, wird sich des Eindrucks abgeschlossener Einsamkeit wohl kaum erwehren k�nnen, zumal wenn er von der Landseite �ber die langgestreckte H�gelkette hier herabgekommen ist. In einem Balkengestelle auf dem Markte hing noch vor kurzem, wie seit Jahrhunderten, die sogenannte B�rgerglocke; um zehn Uhr abends, sobald es vom Kirchturme geschlagen hatte, wurde auch dort gel�utet, und wehe dem Gesinde oder auch dem Haussohn, der diesem Ruf nicht Folge leistete; denn gleich danach konnte man stra�ab und auf sich alle Schl�ssel in den Haust�ren drehen h�ren.
