Jetzt hat mein Dasein pl�tzlich wieder Sinn! Ich war ja schon ganz verzweifelt, was ich mit meinem jungen Leben beginnen sollte. Die Welt war so aussichtslos geworden und die Zukunft so tot. Ich hatte sie schon begraben. Aber jetzt hab ich sie wieder, meine Zukunft, und lasse sie nimmer los, auferstanden aus der Gruft! Es ist noch kaum ein halbes Jahr her, da stand sie bei meiner Musterung neben dem Oberstabsarzt. Tauglich! sagte der Oberstabsarzt, und die Zukunft klopfte mir auf die Schulter. Ich sp�rs noch heut. Und drei Monat sp�ter erschien ein Stern auf meinem leeren Kragen, ein silberner Stern. Denn ich hatte hintereinander ins Schwarze getroffen, der beste Sch�tze der Kompanie. Ich wurde Gefreiter und das will schon etwas hei�en. Besonders in meinem Alter. Denn ich bin fast unser J�ngster. Aber eigentlich sieht das nur so aus. Denn eigentlich bin ich viel �lter, besonders innerlich. Und daran ist nur eines schuld, n�mlich die jahrelange Arbeitslosigkeit. Als ich die Schule verlie�, wurde ich arbeitslos. Buchdrucker wollte ich werden, denn ich liebte die gro�en Maschinen, die die Zeitungen drucken, das Morgen-, Mittag- und Abendblatt. Aber es war nichts zu machen. Alles umsonst!
