The novella tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly and cold-hearted old man who despises Christmas and everything associated with it. He is known for his greed and cruelty, refusing to help those in need and treating his employees, including Bob Cratchit, with harshness and disdain. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who has been condemned to wander the earth in chains as punishment for his own greed and selfishness in life. Marley warns Scrooge that he too will suffer a similar fate unless he changes his ways. Marley informs Scrooge that he will be visited by three spirits that night. Throughout the night, Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet to Come (or Future). These spirits take him on a journey through time, showing him scenes from his own past, the current hardships faced by those he knows, and the bleak future that awaits him if he continues his miserly ways. As Scrooge confronts these visions and experiences, he undergoes a profound transformation. He realizes the error of his miserly and selfish behavior and becomes filled with the spirit of Christmas. He becomes generous, compassionate, and eager to help others.

I wanted a Rackham-illustrated edition of Christmas Carol, and though this would work. My error. I have no idea who "Chump Change Books" is, but their company name is about all they got right. This is cheesy, ugly, ill-composed with tiny print and the illustrations shoehorned into the pages.

perfect for the holidays
Like so many others, I've seen the Muppets version of this, but somehow, I'd never gotten around to reading it. Of course, when I found out that Tim Curry narrates this on Audible, I knew this was the year I'd finally rectify that. He narrated this classic tale so fantastically, and it's the way I would absolutely recommend consuming this book. I imagine it'll be a go to for now on during the holiday season.

Go for it
Books were in excellent condition. Dickens has always been a good Christmas story. Tells of times past that were hard times.

classic recording-book
This is a combo book and recording of a dramatization of Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" with a cast led by narrator Charles Laughton and orchestral music written by Frank Worth. When I was growing up we had an ancient copy of this with two 78 RPM records - it was scratchy but we loved listening to it and following along with the book and the beautiful artwork, every Christmas. It's abridged from the original, certainly, only about 16 minutes long, total (4 minutes a side!), but the emotion of Laughton's voice is the reason to listen to it. The reason I came across this listing was that I was transferring those old 78s to a CD, and was curious if it is available. This is the only reference to this recording I could find. This is a gem!
