A remarkable life!
This is a biography of Warren Buffett, yet it is so much more than that. Yes, Buffett was and is a very remarkable human being - definitely a one-off, so this story of his life is intrinsically interesting. However, Buffett was involved in many newsworthy events during the second half of the 20th century, so any account of his life throws an interesting light on those events. Despite its length (836 pages of text, plus copious notes and an extensive index), Alice Schroeder writes engagingly and is a delight to read. She has clearly been given exceptional access to a man who is notoriously protective of his private life. In many ways, Buffett is a very odd man, but it is probably that singularity that has enabled him to be the foremost investor of the second half of the 20th century. This is a must-read for anyone who is seriously interested in Value Investing.
