First published in Strand Magazine in 1912, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World explored the idea that prehistoric life might still exist in unexplored areas of the globe. I didn't see that it was a condensed, edited down, badly illustrated version of the book. I still enjoyed the story, but constantly felt the loss of all the elements that had been removed.

an adventure classic
Loved this book when I was growing up. Now, it's wonderful to see my son share my enthusiasm over it.

Not what I expected.
This book was not what I expected, I was expecting the full text book of The Lost World. Instead it was a very condensed version for a very young child. Nevertheless, I am keeping the book to give to my grandson when he gets a little older.
