Surtout, en s'appuyant sur l'observation de vingt candidats et d'une trentaine de consultants en outplacement , il explique comment ce dispositif organise une nouvelle mani�re de g�rer les fins de carri�re, de plus en plus � � distance � de l'�tat via l'intervention de ces consultants et via un report de la responsabilit� de la qu�te d'emploi � charge de l'individu. L'inspiration foucaldienne lui permet de relier cette action publique (la conduite des conduites) et le travail sur soi (la conduite de soi) dans un seul et m�me mouvement au coeur des pratiques des professionnels de l' outplacement . Si l'individu y est appel� � devenir � self-sufficient �, l'analyse montre que tous n'y parviennent pas et que des formes de r�sistance se dessinent. In fine , si le but de cette action publique est de � remettre le sujet au coeur du d�bat �, ses effets paradoxaux appellent un regard sociologique renouvel� auquel entend contribuer cet ouvrage.
