Der Band, Bausteine zu einer Geschichte der Philosophie an der Universit�t Graz" enth�lt die Vortr�ge eines Symposiums, das aus Anla� des 100-j�hrigen Bestandsjubil�ums des Grazer Philosophischen Institutes im Herbst 1997 veranstaltet wurde. Au�erdem finden sich darin Aufs�tze und Studien ver�ffentlicht, die aus einem Projekt der Forschungsstelle f�r �sterreichische Philosophie hervorgegangen sind, welches einer eingehenderen Untersuchung der Geschichte der Philosophie an der Grazer Universit�t mit besonderer Ber�cksichtigung der Jesuiten- und Lyzeumszeit gewidmet war; zur Vervollst�ndigung des Gesamtbildes werden schlie�lich noch weitere, eigens f�r diesen Sammelband verfa�te Arbeiten �ber Grazer Philosophen pr�sentiert. Der fr�hen historischen Phase sind die ersten drei Beitr�ge des Bandes gewidmet, wobei in der ausf�hrlichen Studie, Zur fr�hen Philosophielehre an der Grazer Jesuitenuniversit�t" erstmals der Versuch unternommen wird, die Inhalte des philosophischen Unterrichts, wie er am Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts im Rahmen der, ratio studiorum" angeboten wurde, am Beispiel eines vollst�ndigen Kurses darzustellen. Die folgenden Aufs�tze behandeln jeweils einzelne, an der Grazer Universit�t wirkende Lehrer oder befassen sich mit Problemen, die mit Ideen und Lehrmeinungen im Zusammenhang stehen, die von Grazer Philosophen vertreten bzw. angeregt wurden. In einigen Beitr�gen werden zudem �bergreifende Traditionslinien herausgearbeitet, die sich aus der von Alexius Meinong begr�ndeten sog., Grazer Schule" wie auch aus anderen Impulsen (besonders den von Alois Riehl und Hugo Spitzer ausgehenden) entwickelten. Die Reihe der hier vorgestellten Philosophen wird schlie�lich bis in die Gegenwart fortgef�hrt: So zeigen die Beitr�ge, in denen das philosophische Werk zweier prominenter Denker - n�mlich Roderick M. Chisholms und Stephan K�rners - gew�rdigt wird, sowie die Selbstdarstellungen der Grazer Emeriti Ernst Topitsch und Rudolf Haller das breite und vielf�ltige Spektrum philosophischen Lehrens und Forschens an der Grazer Universit�t. Der Band wird mit einer bis zum Jahre 2000 reichenden Gesamt�bersicht der Grazer Philosophen abgeschlossen.
