La intervenci�n arqueol�gica desarrollada en el yacimiento de Las Lagunas ha aportado nuevos datos para el funcionamiento del suburbio segobricense en la vega del Cig�ela. Sin embargo, el aspecto m�s novedoso es la aparici�n de recipientes cer�micos destinados a su uso como colmenas, lo que aporta nuevos datos para la actividad ap�cola en �poca romana en la Pen�nsula Ib�rica. Es bien conocida la actividad colmenera en la antig�edad precl�sica, aunque han sido escasos los trabajos para �poca romana. En Seg�briga se ha podido identificar dos tipos cer�micos, con una altura en torno a los 70 cms. y una capacidad en torno a los 60 litros, son de "tipo tubular". La producci�n de miel en el entorno segobricense ser�a una actividad m�s, probablemente destinada al autoconsumo, complementaria de las otras producciones agr�colas. Sin embargo, la gran densidad de hallazgos de colmenas en Las Lagunas, as� como en otros enclaves como Vallejos, Rasero de Luj�n, Llanos de Pinilla, etc., nos permiten pensar que el volumen de producci�n podr�a, de alguna forma, haber superado el autoconsumo local, y haberse convertido en una plusval�a econ�mica y la producci�n excedentaria haber sido comercializada e nivel regional o supra-regional.
