O mapeamento de loci de caracter???sticas quantitativas (QTL) ??? o primeiro passo para a identifica??????o de genes que afectam caracter???sticas economicamente importantes. Este livro apresenta as nossas descobertas sobre os principais QTLs que afectam a produ??????o de ovos e as caracter???sticas reprodutivas em cruzamentos rec???procos gerados a partir de linhas New Hampshire e White Leghorn que foram mantidas na Humboldt Universit???te zu Berlin, Alemanha. O resultado mais interessante deste estudo foram os m???ltiplos QTLs mapeados no cromossoma 4 entre 19,2 e 82,1 Mb. Nesta regi???o, foram mapeados QTLs para o n???mero e peso dos ovos, e peso corporal das galinhas. O peso dos ovos foi afetado por dois QTLs no cromossoma 4 a 37,6 e 76,4 Mb. Por conseguinte, esta regi???o gen???mica ??? um intervalo interessante para um mapeamento mais preciso e para a identifica??????o de genes candidatos.
