Sur cette base, diff�rents types de scl�rose en plaques sont d�finis et distingu�s. � ce jour, aucun rem�de n'a �t� trouv� et la maladie reste un d�fi pour les m�decins et les chercheurs. Pour parvenir � un diagnostic diff�rentiel, les crit�res de McDonald sont utilis�s, l'�mergence et le d�veloppement des techniques d'imagerie par r�sonance magn�tique (IRM) �tant un nouveau moyen de diagnostic.
