Der Tumor kann tief in das angrenzende Gewebe der Zunge sowie in die Knochen, vor allem des Alveolarkamms, eindringen (5). Mikroskopisch zeigt OSCC in der Regel einen unterschiedlichen Grad an Keratinisierung, zellul�rem und nukle�rem Pleomorphismus und mitotischer Aktivit�t (6). Histologisch werden sie nach den WHO-Kriterien als gut, m��ig oder schlecht differenziert (Grad 1 bis 3) eingestuft (6). Das Fortschreiten des Tumors h�ngt von seiner klinischen Gr��e und Lage, dem histologischen Malignit�tsgrad, der perineuralen Ausbreitung an der Invasionsfront, der lymphatischen Gef��invasion und der Tumordicke ab (7).
