Die vorliegende Arbeit zum Sprachwandelph�nomen der Grammatikalisierung im Franz�sischen verfolgt das Ziel, die unterschiedlichen Methoden und vielschichtigen theoretischen Ans�tze dieser Forschungsrichtung synthetisch miteinander zu verbinden, um sie dann unter Einbeziehung von pragmatischen Faktoren und kognitiven Prozessen in Form einer erweiterten Grammatikalisierungs- bzw. allgemeinen Sprachtheorie f�r die Bestimmung und Erkl�rung bestimmter grammatischer Wandelerscheinungen im Franz�sischen nutzbar zu machen. Zu diesem Zweck wurde eine f�r jene Disziplin innovative Darstellung gew�hlt, die eine Einzelsprache - das bislang nur marginal untersuchte Franz�sisch - zur vorrangigen Objektsprache erhebt und den Gegenstandsbereich aus diesem Blickwinkel systematisch, exemplarisch und evaluativ erfasst. Die Zusammenf�hrung von abstrakter Grammatikalisierungstheorie und konkreten (klassischen sowie eher oder g�nzlich unber�cksichtigten) Fallbeispielen aus dem Franz�sischen bewirkt folglich die Flexibilisierung bzw. neue Fokussierung der traditionell typologisch-kontrastiv ausgerichteten Betrachtungsachse der Grammatikalisierungsforschung in Richtung einer bestimmten romanischen Einzelphilologie.
