Unter der Maxime "Marx und Muschis" wurde die Zeitschrift "konkret" Mitte der 60er zu dem linken Kultblatt Deutschlands. Entstanden aus der Flugblatt-Zeitschrift "Der Untertan", dem literarischen Intelligenzblatt "Zwischen den Kriegen" sowie den Studentenzeitschriften "Das Pladoyer" und "Studenten-Kurier" wurde "konkret" 1957 in Hamburg von einer Gruppe kommunistisch-pazifistischer Studenten gegrundet. Die Zeitschrift erschien zunachst nur in den Semestermonaten, spater monatlich, dann vierzehntagig und schliesslich im Wahljahr 1972 wochentlich. Bis 1964 noch im Geheimen aus der DDR finanziert, musste sich das Blatt ab Mitte der Sechziger ausschliesslich uber Werbung und den Kioskverkauf finanzieren. Mit freizugigen Titelbildern und als Sprachrohr der APO machte Chefredakteur Rainer Rohl, spater Ehemann Ulrike Meinhofs, das Hamburger Studentenheft zum angesehenen Polit-Magazin. Trotz prominenter Autoren und grosser Themen ging das Blatt nach internen Streitigkeiten 1973 Pleite. Der Politikwissenschaftler und Journalist Frederik Obermaier beschreibt die verworrene und bewegte Geschichte der Zeitschrift "konkret" (1957-1973) und ihrer Vorganger, mit all ihren Kontinuitaten, Bruchen und Konflikten.
