This book is an incredibly powerful story of unwavering faith. I appreciated it very much! Although it is a novel, several of the characters did exist and are mentioned in Foxe's Book of Martyrs. The story is set in 1556 in Colchester, England, during the persecution of Protestants under Queen Mary. Not only is it well-researched, containing lots of details about the life and customs of the time, but it also honors the Scriptures, quoting them frequently. The story introduces us to several staunch Christians who were willing to follow Christ even to death, and portrays the glorious effect of their faith on those around them. I highly recommend it!
