Den im Auftrag von Hezog Adolph zu Nassau gestalteten Grabmonument seiner verstorbenen Frau, der Herzogin Elisabeth, in der Russisch-Orthodoxen Kirche auf dem Neroberg in Wiesbaden widmet sie ein reich bebildertes Kapitel. Sein zweites hauptwerk in Wiesbaden, Christus und die vier Evangelisten in der Marktkirche Wiesbaden, beschreibt Margot Klee aus ihrer Kenntnis der chstlichen Ikonografie und der romischen Portratplastik. Werner R. Behrendt positioniert Hopfgarten in das Umfeld weiterer nassauischer Bildhauer und verfolgt die Spuren von Hopfgartens Schuler Hermann Schies und Carl Keil.
