Fur aIle einschlagigen Arbeiten ist daher die genaue Kenntnis der Morphologie des Mausegehirns eine wesentliche Voraussetzung. Da die genannten Forschungszweige zum Teil erst in letzter Zeit einen besonderen Aufschwung genommen haben, ist es verstand- lich, daB nur relativ wenige Arbeiten uber die Morphologie des Mausegehirns vorliegen. Teils liegen diese Publikationen schon lange zuruck, wie die ausgezeichnete, minutios durchgefuhrte Bearbeitung der Cytoarchitektonik der GroBhirnrinde der Maus durch ROSE (1930), teils befassen sie sich nur mit eng begrenzten Regionen des Mausegehirns. Vor allem fehlte aber eine umfassende Darstellung der anatomischen Verhaltnisse des Stammhirns der Maus. Eine solche ist von eminenter Wichtigkeit, urn spontan aufgetretene odeI' experimentell gesetzte Lasionen genau lokalisieren zu konnen. Immer wieder stoBt man in der Literatur diesbezuglich auf unzutreffende und einander widersprechende Angaben. Es bestand somit ein echtes Bediirfnis nach einer zusammenfassenden Dar- stellung del' Topographie, Cytoarchitektonik und Cytologie des Hirnstammes der Maus.
