La comunidad en general (Sector industrial, comercial, residencial, etc.) espera de un sistema de distribuci�n de energ�a el�ctrica la continuidad en el suministro del servicio, dentro de los est�ndares establecidos (Frecuencia y Tensi�n) y sin interrupciones, lo cual no es posible lograr debido a que la naturaleza del sistema hace que las fallas sean de tipo aleatorio. Haciendo uso de herramientas probabil�sticas se puede definir la probabilidad de ocurrencia de ciertos eventos que puedan interrumpir el servicio y as� mismo hacer las inversiones correspondientes para tratar de prevenir dichos eventos. En este documento se va a realizar la evaluaci�n de la confiabilidad de un circuito radial del sistema de distribuci�n de la empresa EMCALI E.S.P., tambi�n se mostrara algunas alternativas que permitir�n mejorar la confiabilidad del sistema electrico de potencia. Para estos an�lisis se utiliz� el programa de an�lisis de sistemas de potencia ETAP.
