Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Thema: Europ�ische Union, Note: 1,0, Universit�t Erfurt, Veranstaltung: Internationale Politik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Arbeit besch�ftigt sich aus staatstheoretischer Sicht mit der Debatte um ein Demokratiedefizit der EU, wobei die Perspektiven der Politik- und der Rechtswissenschaft Beachtung finden. Zun�chst werden einige grundlegende Ausf�hrungen �ber die Bedeutung der Europ�ischen Union angef�hrt, welche die Relevanz eines m�glichen Demokratiedefizits veranschaulichen. Dabei wird auch auf den Stand der europ�ischen Integration eingegangen, um eine Grundlage f�r den Vergleich des politischen Systems der EU mit dem des demokratischen Nationalstaates zu erzeugen. Dieser Vergleich soll im Anschluss zentrale Unterschiede deutlich machen, die zwischen der Union und ihren Mitgliedsstaaten bestehen und die einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Debatte um die demokratische Legitimation der EU haben, da sie veranschaulichen, welche Unvereinbarkeiten das System der EU im Hinblick auf die Konzeption demokratischer Legitimation im Nationalstaat hervorruft. Den Hauptteil der Arbeit bildet der Versuch, die so herausgestellten demokratietheoretisch bedeutsamen Unterschiede als Grundlage einer Bewertung zentraler Argumente in der Diskussion um ein Demokratiedefizit der Union zu nutzen. Dabei werden jeweils zun�chst die Kernaussagen der Argumente dargestellt. Darauf folgt dann auf jedes dieser Argumente der Versuch, sie auf ihren ontologischen Subtext hinsichtlich ihres Demokratieverst�ndnisses zu untersuchen und vor dem Hintergrund der vorher herausgestellten Unterschiede zu bewertet. Abschlie�end wird das Ergebnis der Arbeit zusammengefasst, in seiner Tragweite definiert und in den thematischen Kontext der Arbeit eingeordnet.
