Diante do alto impacto individual e social resultantes desse agravo, e considerando a real situa��o dos idosos brasileiros que, em grande parte s�o assistidos pela rede p�blica de sa�de, medidas urgentes devem ser incorporadas �s redes de aten��o prim�ria a fim de disseminar interven��es que reduzam os fatores associados ao risco de cair. Apesar das evid�ncias comprovando os efeitos ben�ficos de programas multifatoriais que incluem exerc�cios f�sicos, h� a necessidade em compreender a l�gica de uma pol�tica de tratamento destinado a massifica��o de estrat�gias de preven��o de quedas, a fim de estabelecer a abrang�ncia e efic�cia destas como assist�ncia no �mbito da sa�de funcional.
