Donde las fuerzas viscosas predominan sobre las fuerzas inerciales. Esto genera, en ciertas condiciones, la formaci�n de zonas bien mezcladas alrededor del impulsor y/o zonas muertas o segregadas lejos de �l y en consecuencia, el proceso se vuelve ineficiente. En este trabajo se presenta una investigaci�n sobre mezclado en r�gimen laminar, utilizando impulsores sencillos o coaxiales de descarga radial centrados y descentrados estudiando un fluido newtoniano. Se estudi� el tiempo de mezclado mediante la t�cnica de colorimetr�a y procesamiento de im�genes. Los campos de velocidad y vorticidad del flujo se determinaron utilizando la t�cnica de velocimetr�a de im�genes de part�culas (PIV). Se estudi� la capacidad de bombeo de cada impulsor, y la forma de mejorarla. Por tal motivo, se propuso una nueva configuraci�n en base a dos agitadores coaxiales conectados mediante un par de barras. Con esta nueva propuesta se pretende dar respuesta a los problemas de bajo nivel de homogeneidad en el mezclado.
