Zur Inhalt: Marianne, das "s��e Wiener M�del," l�uft ihrer Verlobung mit dem biederen Fleischhauer Oskar davon, der sein Gesch�ft neben der Puppenklinik ihres Vaters in Wien hat. Sie bekommt ein Kind von Alfred, der ein Schuft und Hallodri ist, und sie werden todungl�cklich im Wiener achtzehnten Bezirk. Alfred gibt das Kind zu seiner Gro�mutter, die mit Alfreds Mutter in der sch�nen frischen Luft der Wachau an der Donau wohnt. In Not und Elend vollzieht Marianne einen sozialen Abstieg, der sie zuletzt �ber Vermittlung von Alfreds Kumpan Hierlinger und einer Baronin "mit Verbindungen" als erotische T�nzerin in ein Halbwelt-Variet� f�hrt. Der Zauberk�nig, der hartherzige Vater Mariannes, muss sein versto�enes Kind im Nachtlokal "Maxim" als nackte allegorische Figur bei "lebenden Bildern" wiedererkennen. "Der Mister," ein aus Amerika heimgekehrter Wiener mit heurigenseliger, verkitschter Heimatliebe, der mit Geld nur so um sich wirft, versucht Marianne als Prostituierte zu kaufen, was sie ablehnt. Die Abweisung macht den "Mister" w�tend, er sorgt daf�r, dass sie ins Gef�ngnis kommt, da sie ihn angeblich bestehlen wollte.
